The InLine® USB to RS232 converter connects modern computers with a USB-A port to devices that still communicate via a serial RS232 interface. The connection is made via a 4-pin screw terminal and is suitable for configuration, diagnostics, maintenance and data transfer. The integrated FTDI FT232RNL chipset provides a virtual COM port and supports baud rates from 300 to 921,600 bps. This means that, in many cases, existing software can continue to be used without modification. The GND, TX and RX connections allow for simple wiring. The additional GND pin is internally connected to the first ground pin and can be used for additional ground connections or cable shielding. Integrated protection circuits on both the USB and RS232 sides contribute to reliable operation. Status indicators for operation as well as transmission and reception activity facilitate monitoring of communication during commissioning and ongoing operation.
