The adapter provides a DVI-D 24+1 socket for your existing DVI cable and an HDMI Type A plug for the HDMI port on the display. Video transmission is digital as single-link. Digital audio signals can only be carried if the source provides them over DVI; as a rule, DVI does not carry audio. In professional IT environments, on-site installations, and service deployments, the adapter facilitates continued use of existing DVI cabling with current HDMI displays. This is particularly helpful in meeting rooms, auditoriums, and in digital signage installations in companies and public institutions.
